Itrax XRF Scanner SC
Itrax XRF Scanner SC is dedicated to scanning of samples for chemical elements from Na and heavier in drill cores and sediment cores. It offers the high scan speed combined with very good sensitivity and an attractive price. It is one of our latest construction, featuring high performance XRF, so that all detected elements from bulk to trace level are determined in the best possible way and at the same time, even when the analysis is challenged by a highly variable sample matrix.
This scanner is designed for routine scanning of cores, offering smooth core handling and batch support. SC stands for Single Core, and this scanner can be loaded with one core having a length up to 1250 millimeters and a diameter up to 127 millimeters.
Itrax XRF scanners provides chemical element data that have a documented good accordance with traditional XRF analysis. Add to this the speed and minimized sample preparation that Itrax XRF scanning offers. Scan speed is optimized by the short time needed for a reliable measurement, and by the continuous, non contact scanning where no no stopping at each point to move the scan head up and down is required. While some scanners are still working on moving the scan device to the first measuring position, the SC scanner has already scanned one or two increments of a scan. All elements of interest are determined simultaneously with highest sensitivity, without the need for time consuming multiple analyses at different voltages. Each instrument is equipped with XRF and a RGB optical camera that registers detailed sample images. A laser distance meter determines the sample topography, allowing for analyses that are correct at each and every increment.
When in-depth scans with increments at millimeter level are in focus, Itrax offers a unique, cutting edge feature where the analytical speed and performance is maintained as increment size is decreased. For the XRF scanner SC, this means that the scan time of three second as well as the high data quality can be applied from centimeter increments and all the way down to 1 millimeter.
Another key feature of this scanner is that it is delivered with robust software for element quantification. It can handle large shifts in sample matrices and still deliver good quality quantitative estimates for any concentration, from trace level and up to the amounts found in mining and matrix elements. The ability to determine Na is also important for good quantitative results, with the given position of Na in Ternary plots.
The robust Itrax software makes it possible to handle the huge shifts in matrix compositions that often are the case in cores, with maintained good results. The software is straightforward and easy to use, while still flexible with user controlled analytical settings. Analytical settings often used can be stored in order to make it easy to initiate a standard scan.
The analytical resolution is variable from 10-1 millimeter for maximum flexibility, so that the scanner can be adapted to different requirements. Standard XRF scan time for mineral drill cores is 300 seconds per meter, allowing for fast yet precise scans where the data can be described as concentrations of the determined elements per meter of core.
With a robust construction built for 24/7 operation, this XRF scanner works well in a permanent lab setup as well as in a lab container for field work.
