Small scanner - big performance

Itrax XRF Scanner SC is dedicated to scanning of samples for chemical elements from Mg-U in drill cores and sediment cores. It offers high scan speed combined with very good sensitivity and an attractive price. It is one of our latest constructions, featuring high performance XRF, with all detected elements from bulk to trace level determined with good sensitivity and at the same time. The quantification is excellent, even when it is challenged by a highly variable sample matrix.

Single Core Design

This scanner is designed for routine scanning of cores, and offers smooth core handling. SC stands for Single Core, and this scanner can be loaded with one core, full circle drill core or split, wet sediment cores of a length up to 1250 millimeters.

Chemistry revealed

Itrax XRF scanners provide chemical element data that have a documented good accordance with traditional XRF analysis. Add to this the high scan speed and minimized sample preparation that Itrax XRF scanning offers. Scan speed is optimized by the short time needed for a reliable measurement, and by the continuous, non contact scanning where no no stopping at each point to move the scan head up and down is required.

All elements of interest are determined simultaneously, without the need for time consuming multiple analyses at different voltages. Each instrument is equipped with XRF and a RGB optical camera that registers sample images of high detail. A laser determines the sample topography, allowing for non contact analyses that are performed at correct distance for each and every increment.

When in-depth scans with increments down to millimeter level are in focus, Itrax offers a unique, cutting edge feature where the same, short analytical speed and good performance is maintained regardless of increment size. For the XRF scanner SC, this means that the scan time of 3-15 seconds can be applied all the way down to 1 milli-meter with the same high data quality.

Excellence in software performance

A key feature is that this scanner is delivered with the same robust software for element quantification as our larger scanners. It can handle large shifts in sample matrices and still deliver good quality quantitative estimates for any concentration, from trace level and up to the concentrations found for matrix elements. The software is straightforward and easy to use, with a graphical user interface.

The flexibility that you need

The analytical resolution is variable down to 1 millimeter for maximum flexibility, so that the scanner can be adapted to different requirements. An add on allows for sub-millimeter increments. Standard sample throughput for mineral drill cores is ~5 meter per hour, allowing for precise quantitative data with  concentrations of the determined elements per meter of core.
